The research project aims to increase scientific knowledge and understanding about this recovering population’s youngest and most vulnerable cohort (newborns).
This information can be used by conservation managers in Queensland and Australia, local tourism operators, the scientific community, the general public, the local community and other ocean users in the Gold Coast area. So far, the project has produced one scientifically published paper in an international journal.
The project has also been presented at several international marine mammal and cetacean conferences in (Halifax, Canada; Barcelona, Spain; Palm Beach, California; Hervey Bay, Australia; Hobart, Tasmania; Gold Coast, Queensland; Perth, Western Australia; Dunedin, New Zealand, etc.) so far.
